IBR Staff Writer Published 01 April 2011

Zurich Financial Services Group has made three senior appointments to its commercial broker team within its UK general insurance business.

The insurer appointed Steve Green as new European middle market network leader across its general insurance business in Europe.

In his new role, Green will advise, coach and support countries as they develop in the middle market.

Zurich said that the development of customer value propositions for specific sectors, based on the UK 'Corporate Focus' proposition, will be a priority.

Formerly, Green was head of corporate in the UK.

Dave Carey has been appointed as new head of corporate and will take profit and loss responsibility for the segment which sits alongside Zurich's other commercial broker segments of SME, real estate, professional & financial lines, and construction & engineering.

Carey joined Zurich in 1988 and has held various sales and underwriting roles, most recently as head of broker market, South, based in Croydon.

Roy Standish has been named as head of real estate insurance. He will assume the P&L responsibility for the middle market segment.

Standish joined Zurich in 1986, holding a range of sales and distribution roles, most recently as city manager, London. He will continue to be based in Zurich's London office.

UK General Insurance director of Middle Market & Specialties Gary Wainwright said that Steve will share the highly successful middle market expertise across Europe, while Dave and Roy will take responsibility for the end-to-end value propositions for their segments, continuing to develop these to help the brokers win and retain business.
