Published 30 January 2012

HW Kaufman Financial Group, a US-based distributor of insurance products, has acquired Chesterfield Group, a London-based insurance broker and underwriter.

The acquisition expands Kaufman Financial Group's international insurance presence in the specialty insurance marketplace as Chesterfield has companies in the UK, US and Canada.

Chesterfield Group's principal operating company is Chesterfield Insurance Brokers which is domiciled in the UK and is the group's Lloyd's of London broker.

The acquisition also includes Chesterfield Canada, a wholesale broker focused on specialty commercial risks, and Van Wagoner Companies, a managing general agent in the US.

The Canadian offices and Van Wagoner Companies will now operate under the name of Kaufman Financial Group's subsidiary, Burns & Wilcox.

All of Chesterfield's employees, including senior management, will become part of the Kaufman Financial Group team.
