IBR Staff Writer Published 20 March 2012

A team of 12 insurance transactional and regulatory lawyers from New York based Dewey & LeBoeuf has joined Willkie Farr & Gallagher, marking the latest set of departures for the troubled law firm.

The team includes Alexander Dye, Michael Groll, Robert Rachofsky and John Schwolsky led the team of attorneys leaving the firm.

The team also includes Scott Avitabile, Donald Henderson, Arthur Lynch, Vladimir Nicenko and Allison Tam, who will reside in the New York office, Joseph Ferraro and Nicholas Bugler, who will reside in the London office, and Christopher Petito, who will be based in the Washington, office.

Willkie Co-Chairman Thomas Cerabino said the company has worked closely with the team in a number of transactions over the years.

"They are among the most elite practitioners in their field and will add greatly to our capabilities in their areas of expertise," Cerabino added.

Alexander Dye said the team sees synergies with the firm's world-class private equity, M&A and asset management practices, as well as its long-established and substantial insurance practice.

The departures are the latest setback for Dewey, which has lost 19 other partners since the beginning of 2012.
