IBR Staff Writer Published 23 June 2010

Alliant Insurance Services, a US-based insurance brokerage firm, has appointed Lee Howell as vice president in its Alpharetta, Georgia, office. He will head Alliant's national forest products practice.

Mr Howell, who comes to Alliant after heading his own risk management consulting firm, has more than 20 years of insurance experience, including 17 years in the forest products industry, where he has focused on primary and secondary manufacturers and treaters, as well as timber real estate investment trusts (REITs).

Tom Corbett, chairman and CEO of Alliant, said: Lee Howell has built an outstanding reputation for his ability to help national forest products companies reduce their total cost of risk. Lee's unique expertise in this niche market is an excellent fit with Alliant's commitment to providing specialized industry sectors with highly cost-effective products, services, and group-purchase programs.

Lee's extensive expertise and experience in this specialized business differentiates Alliant and enables us to serve as a trusted outsourced risk manager that can help forest products companies capitalize on new opportunities while providing the risk protection and benefits programs they need to be successful in an increasingly competitive business environment.
